"Add New Sticky" Application

Created for use in conjunction with 'Stickies for Windows' by Bret Taylor. 'Add new Sticky" application by Dave Glutting.

This program was made by a good friend of mine, who allowed me to release and distribute this application for whoever may be using 'stickies for windows'.

This program, when executed, creates a new sticky note on your desktop (assuming stickies.exe is already running). If stickies.exe is NOT running, the program, when executed, will run stickies.exe and create a new sticky note.

Information and release notes are in the .zip file - file also includes higher res icon (up to 128x128) for use in your dock or on your desktop. Program also works flawlessly when linked from ObjectBar.

Please note that this program only works along with 'Stickies for Windows', and there are no future plans to develop a similar application for other sticky-note apps at this time.

can i use this program with another stikies app ??? if it is not possible. can you tell your friend "please" to do something similar to be used with "stikies 4.5a " i love that app..... will you ?

hmm, i use atnotes, which can use shortcut keys to activate a new note. but it doesn't activates a new note when pressed on a yz dock, possible to 'port' the app for atnotes as well?

It's ok if you guys find it bothersome.

She already says that it WON'T work with other Stickies programs "at this time"

There is a possibility for other apps in the future but don't hold your breath.

Am I the only person this is not working for? When I open the program, it starts a new instance of Stickies, but no new note appears. This is exactly the same whether Stickies is already running or not.

The .ini configuration is correct.

IngeneerMind, Rain - As I posted, and GameBoyzGB pointed out, there are no plans for porting this app for other sticky-notes programs at the moment. If you're interested in porting this for another program, please PM me with more details and I'll see if I can ask him to release the source.

mgehrett - No, unfortunately I didn't. But I have a feeling we'll work our way around it. I'm pretty confident that we'll manage to do so becuase, as an example, the issue regarding the "new sticky frrom shortcut" was something I actually emailed Bret about, and never recieved a response (argh!). Frustrated, yet I was fortunate enough to have a friend willing to help me with the issue and code a program, and there you have it. Neccessity is the mother of invention.

alang - yes, of course you may. There is redistribution information in the readme file that comes along with the zip.

there is a much more easier way to get a new stickie. just install a shortcut-programm like "Hotkeycontrol XP", define a shortcut pointing to the stickies.exe and use the command line parameter "/new".

thats it and the new stickie is just one hotkey away ;-)

SioSae - Stickies for Windows does not support the "/new" argument in shortcuts. You must be thinking of a different stickies program.

Actually, it does work with the /new command

It even works in ObjectDock. Just browse Brett Taylor's Stickies.exe for the Link and enter "/new" in the Arguments portion.
