Let me first explain the reason behind my question:
Ok, so I've been looking around for true Panther themes, that work properly and I really found that some people are always like "ah so many OSX Panther themes.." and so on, but as a matter of fact, there aren't. Please don't get me wrong, I've seen a lot of good attempts, and I don't want to sound like I'm not appreciating everyone's effort, but it seems that no one has managed to make it right.
I've tried everything, I mean EVERYTHING, from Xero, Iceman, Kol, and all of them from DeviantArt, Customize.org, WinCustomize.org and a quite a few places (Kol's included) but all of them have something done wrong. Some have big fonts with some funky shadows, or fonts are beveled, some have backgrounds that are too bright and they work somewhere but they look horrible under certain applications (Photoshop for example), some have funky fonts that won't show up right in certain dialogs and so on..WindowsBlinds gives these themes nice left buttons on windows, but WB does a horrible job in Photoshop for example. Windows within Photoshop don't have skinned buttons in their right top corners (example: Layers Window and so on). On the other hand StyleXP does the job considerably good in Photoshop but I guess it needs some extra work in order to show up correctly (example is that bug where aqua buttons on Layer window for example show up too close and a bit messed up. Someone mentioned that here or on Aqua-Soft.org), but at least it works. Too bad that we can't have left buttons in StyleXP. I just don't understand that people invest so much time building elements (very admirable), and are so skilled and talented, but they just don't deal with these small ass problems.
So far I'm using Kol's Panther theme and Aqua Pack Final version 3 and things look pretty much good, but I still miss left side buttons on windows and true Panther style buttons (not Aqua). This takes us to my question:
Can we expect this group of talented people to finally do the job right and make a perfect theme without these bugs? I mean listen, if we start with that simple screenshot of Panther on Apple's site, it becomes obvious that all published themes don't actually represent a perfect copy. And I've seen so many talented people with C++ skills that can redo some Windows GUI parts and change them to fill out those WB and StyleXP holes. We already have brushed themes, that are pretty much ok for ICQ,Trillian, MSN, WinAmp and so on.
From the business point of things, I would really pay money for something that is really good emulation and done perfectly. Even if it means change a bunch of system files and so on. So in the end this group of people would definitely get compensated for the effort.
I think this can be done. What do you think?
