These look like super-sweet G5 icons. They are actually called G5_2.0, I forget the author, but they're downloadable at http://www.mixthepix.com/
Anyone with a Mac willing to download and mail me, or try getting permission to host them? I'm gonna go and mail the author now actually. Maybe he/she'll post them in PNG or ICO somewhere.

I just had a small mail conversation with Hein, icon-master extraoridinaire, and he said he was releasing packs in IContainer because he was sick of PC-ers taking credit for his work. Personally, with such a distinctive style as Hein's, I can't imagine anyone seriously staking claim to producing his sets. If someone claimed something like that around here they'd be flamed from Tokyo to Texarcana to Tanzania :staffs here: right????
Anyway, it's a shame some artists have resorted to these Mac-only formats to bypass the PC community. While I can understand it on one level, it kind of pisses me off on another. But we already have so many wonderful sets from Hein, so thanks for those, mister :bow: if you're reading this. Maybe you'll change your mind some day?
But someone with a Mac could just as easily do the same thing and release them for either PC or Mac if they wanted to, so his argument doesn't really hold up. (It's the same as the fact that locking your door only keeps honest people out.) It's just a huge inconvenience for people that want to make their desktops look nicer, and one tiny extra step for people that want to steal your work. Using a Mac-only format just seems like snobbery to me.

first I want to explain why I set my iconsets in icontainer format only.
Manly it's because it seems realy normal in the PC comunity to just take other peoples sets and distribute them under Windows users again without even asking permission (not everybody ofcourse).
But the worst part is that a lot of these people use some silly icon merging application and combine my icons with other peoples icons and make new sets out of them. These people kill every pixel icon designers work for and they don't even see what they are doing.
It's like when you would combine a Rembrandt with a van Gogh and than say that you are the artist. Not that I want to compare myself with these painters; )
Anyway, I tried to find a way to publish my sets in Windows format but even than people keep doing it.
And for some reason are these sort of things not happening in the Mac community...
When a Mac user sees my icons being used illegally they write a mail to him. It's NOT DONE!! And in the PC comunity nobody cares.
Start forums about these subjects instead of talking about how to get free stuff.
Maybe something will change.

It's a shame Hein's. I think PNG conversion from Mac sets on Xicons and then posting them on forums is a huge problem as well. Most people don't realize that giving credit isn't always the point. It's also the conversion and redistribution of someone?s work that doesn't want it spread in certain ways.

There are a hell of a lot less people in the Mac community. Of course it's going to get a smaller percentage of the theiving assholes. Just like because of the Mac's cost, that community gets a higher percentage of greedy elitists.
My point is that you aren't going to stop these people by making it harder for them, you are just going to make them want to do it more. If you want to stop them from making crappy conversions, make the conversions yourself. If people see you as some typical Mac elitist that only wants share his work with a select few then people are going to want to piss you off. If they see you as a nice guy and have genuine respect for you, they won't do those things. I mean, I can't remember the last time someone used Rade.8 icons w/o permission or released one of Max's themes.

I couldn't agree more. If and when these artists are ripped off, you can rest assured the emails will be flying.
Hein, you disparage people downloading your nice icons 'for free', but you are GIVING them away to the Mac community 'for free'.... I don't see the difference. My sister has a Mac, and she doesn't give a damn about the icons. I have a PC, and I do. The fact that I post in the forums and send you an email shows how much I do care 
in my opinion.

I take it you haven't seen the rips section over at DesignTechnika. People are ripped in more ways then you think. The point is moot and this is my last comment!

All we need now is a reliable Aqua-softian host.
Well, wouldn't it be great if Hein gad a trusty person to convert all of his sets to WinXP and just had the 'Windows version' links @ MixThePix? If bandwidth allows for that of course.. This way all the lousy PC'ers stealing stuff would not feel 'discriminated' and may stop the rips.
Ken has agreed to host the G5 set of PNGs on his very nice website. So they should be available very soon. It's good of Hein to convert these to PNG for us, maybe we'll get other currently unavailable collections like Jules Vern and Statistics some day, too. What do you say, Hein?

These are really great icons, I'm sure everyone here appreciates the amount of time and work which have gone into producing these sets. As you will see once you become more familar with our great Aqua Communities, we have a well run establishement where our members keep a very keen lookout for 'unauthorized works' of our treasured themers, iconists, ect., ect...
In fact, a lot of our members here are also members @DesignTechnika (DT2) where they have a very closely monitored thread, for this type of unfortunate action by a 'minority' of the Windows Community...
Some of our themers (Three Drives-for example) is working closely with Mac artists @FunMac Forums (Kevin MacLeod & Max R.) so that we in the Windows Community who so dearly are enamored with the Mac GUI, can enjoy...
