Is there a program or something that popup a cd icon on your desktop when you insert a cd into the drive?
Cd Rom On Desktop
Well I don't know if a program exists. But I do something similar.
First Get TweakUI from microsofts site(you might already have it if you have xp)
Second there's an option to get rid of the shortcut arrow choose that.
Third Create A shortcut from the cd-rom and place it on the desktop.
You will have the cd-rom on your hd with no shortcut arrow ![]()
But you will have to change the name of the shortcut everytime you put in a new cd >.<

tweaknow powerpack has that option.

Just in case anyone wants it, Found this little app somewhere on the internet. Just run it at startup and it creates a shortcut on the desktop whenever a CD is inserted. It deletes the shortcut when CD is ejected.
Hmm... I ran it and it made a "THPS4" shortcut for the CD in tray. But when I ejected the CD, the shortcut's still there. It won't vanish...
CDAuto is a great application.
The coolest feature is that you can drag the shortcut to the Recycle Bin in ObjectDock and the CD ejects.
I would love this program if it wasn't for the issue that the shortcuts it creates on the desktop don't vanish when I eject the CD.
Anyone else who experiences this issue to?

I haven't tried the app...but maybe by design you're supposed to drag the shortcut to the bin to eject the CD and delete the shortcut at the same time? Or does the shortcut re-appear or something? I guess I'll have to try this out to see.
dragging the shortcut into the recycle bin docklet in Y'z dock doesn't seem to work.
uh, how do u get rid of the program?
nevermind ![]()
I downloaded this app ages ago and hadn't tried it since, but you're right I just tried it and the shortcut doesn't delete itself anymore?!
I swear it used to disappear, let me look through my stuff to see if there was a switch or something that can explain this strange occurrence.
It doesn't make sense for an app to create a shortcut and then not be able to delete it
maybe there is a newer version...
I can't find he name of the developer to find another version in google ![]()

In Objectdock it works, but if you have 2 CD drives (CD-ROM and CD-RW as I have), only one drive ejects the disc when drag the CD icon on the trash.

"DisplayIcon"=dword:00000001
