Hosting For Downloads

Hey guys,

Bolero and I (bill) will be hosting a site for mirrors and downloads.

Since it seems that everyone today has bandwith problems, I've came up with some hosting with no restrictions.

Tim and Jef, I'll gladly host your Aquasoft files, so contact me.

Everyone else, if you need hosting you can trust... (hopefully ;)) Please contact me either through e-mail or PM... We'll be glad to help!

Oh, and the name will be AquaSource... and we're still deciding on the domain.

Thanks!

Oh, and one more thing, The hosting doesnt limit bandwith or disk usage. Also file size doesnt matter. The paid version ($10/m) comes popup free and free domain along with other things. Its quite good :)

#5800

I'd like to take a guess, umm Hostultra.com?

#5861

Nope, they have file size limits.

#5874

Dear Bill, your site will allow direct linking from other sites?

I'm very interested... ;)

#5889

Indeed iceman.

It does allow direct linking. :)

LMK if you need any.

#5892

Hopefully soon we will have it up and running.. thing seem to be moving slowly.. few problems poped up but are fixed :)

whatch out for aqua source!!!

Having worked in the web hosting industry, I'd like to warn anyone who is thinking about using ANY host that professes to give you UNLIMITED bandwidth or disk space. It's a physical impossibility for free AND paid hosting.

Here's what a quick search turned up on the subject.

It's a shady bussiness practice, and all hosts who do it either don't provide it or go under quickly.

#6137

Don't worry,

I understand its Impossible, but I will do my best to try and keep it virtually unlimited.

I found a webhost that only offers so much space, yet I can register more accounts which not only give me more space, but puts less pressure onto the server account.

(sneaky, eh?)

#6534

Sneaky :)

Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is :)

I'd suggest doing a quick search on your host at webhostingtalk.com as that may shed some light.

Even if they don't say unlimited, they may be advertising more than they can actually provide, and may kick you off for using less than half of what they advertised.

#6540

I can attest to that! GISOL shut us down after using 25GB of bandwidth even though they advertise 45GB per month.

#6542

hmm.. just htinking about all this, how much total space do you think all this stuff will need?

im sure its less then 100mb or 200mb, but im not totally sure. i am making a newwebsite soon myself, i will probably have 30gb combined bandwith with 650mb combined webspace

#6624

Well, for now, We'll be using Prohosting (free.prohosting.com) for Web pages, because it has best support for html files such as CGI and SSI. (I also found a way to disable banners/popups) SHHHHHHHHHH!

For webhosting; coolfreepages.com, and a few others that I have forgot.

Hope that interest you guys. (oh, also, once aquasource gets really busy, I'll switch to a pay server at hostonce.com)

:)

Not too much by the seems of it, but you never know. This community always seems to surprise me ;)

I dont see it being more than 30 megs in programs, but I could be wrong.

Yes, they are good. We're only using them for HTML hosting, though, because of thier Lack of web space, and very minimal file size. And its the only host I tend to find the easiest to eliminate ads.

Thanks.

If you want an easy way to remove banner ads on almost every site, in a Web Site editor create a layer where the ad would be and fill the layer (i use the same color as the backround) and then make the layer the lowest of all your layers and you wont see it, but it will cover the ads.

#7029

Yeah, I've done the same, but this trick Completely removes the ads.

I'm starting to upload files now, so contact me if you want your aqua apps uploaded :)

#7034

I am doing my best and I am going to try and have the Aqua Apps up soon. I've been talking wiht jef so I am going to try and get it up before December 25th because it does tend to get quite hectic.

#7035

You do understand that what you are doing is illegal, correct?
