Hi, and welcome to Aqua-soft!

If you don't want to hack/change your .dll files, i suggest you try Iconpackager from Stardock. It is the most popular one. Too bad its shareware.

If you want a free alternative, try e-icons. There are others too, but i can't remember the names of them.

The best way (IMO) is to change your shell32.dll. But that's just my opinion. And it's free of course.

ok, i'm not afraid of hacking the shell32....just i don't exactly now how can i use alternative icons by changing the shell with a modded one.....

i mean, once i've changed the shell...what i have to do exactly?

let me know....thanx!!

bye

I suggest you to use Replacer. It is extremely easy to use, just follow the instructions.

Custom shell32.dlls can be found everywhere. Just search the forums.

If you really want to mod your windows to look like osx, i suggest you to dowload croka99's system file installer from aquaxp. It installs Pack's system files which changes almost every icon on windows.

#64127

ok....but isn't the croka's pack still not finalized?

i've read that he's still devolping the final version since some users experienced some probelms,

and again.......

if i have a set of icon that i want to use....how can i use it in a .dll file???

#64129

Just copy it to some other folder and open it with Reshacker. Then change the icons you want.

I have a picture that helps a lot. It has all the icons in shell32.dll.

#64131

ohh thank u sooo much.....i hope that reshak think isn't too complicate

thanx again.

i've also seen that the croka's pack it's final now.....but seems that no link is working........

#64136

No problem. Just ask if you need any help with reshacker.

Btw, here is a working link Installer.

#64137

the link u posted tells me forbidden access

and anyway i've tryie many time downloading from there but when it finishes it says that the file is corrupted

#64140

you can reshack your own files, e.g. shell32.dll, or you can download a ready-made one, with or without an installer. if you're having problems with the installer, just replace the file using replacer.

also, for those other icons like folders, etc., if you don't want to use the shell32, you can use iconphile. get it here.

#64143

Have you tried microangelo yet?

I have to add something here for those of us who don't hack shell32.

I think there are just 2 essential progz: Icon Workshop and Yz Toolbar.

For a smooth-running and sweet-looking system with minimal technical and system burden, these 2 progz together do a quite thorough job of icon replacement.
