Aqua-Soft ForumsI plan to host all the files that I downloaded from aquasoft & aquaxp at my sites so that anybody looking for that files doesn't have to search or browsing around the forum. Should I ask permission from every single person of the creator because the files including icons, skins, wallpaper & applications that I have downloaded here and its quite a number and some of them I couldn't remember the author name. I won't take any credit though for that files I only want to put it on my site and give the credit for those who deserve it so that everybody can download it at my site...

i dont think you have to, unless of corse the author doesnt want you to distribute stuff. Web sites host demo copys of apps and the like all thje time without asking for premision. I think though you should try and gather as much information about the 'maker' as you can eg: name, webpage etc.
Permissions would probably not be a problem. I'd be more worried about bandwidth.

Alang maybe you should cooperate with oOo The DEEJ oOo - he's creating aqua-files-hosting webpage. The thread is somewhere around and the site's here. I think that joining forces is way better solution than dividing and creating lots of this kind of sites. Contrasutra will surely be pissed off when he sees it

there are a lot of aqua-site all of which are pretty half-assed.
no offense aqua-site admins/owners but what we need is a one-stop aqua fix download palace.
i don't think you'd even need to design a webpage for that.. just use the good ole "index of /..." and organize all the files into their respective folders.
Maybe you can also set up an upload too which allows developers/skinners/designers to dump their releases there.

Thats what I want to see. The closest one is iberic but the site is down lately.
I won't put an upload section on my website because all the files that I host is my favourite files that i download from here. My collection of aquaish files.
If I put an upload section I'm afraid that I can't monitor the files that being uploaded to my site. My purpose is only to share my files with my friends over here.
Well if that's your purpose I have almost nothing to add. You want to share YOUR favourite files - that's ok, do it and I hope you'll succeed.
But on the other hand - macish.org is supposed to host ALL aqua files. And it means your favourites are going to be there. So why not help oOo The DEEJ oOo collect files/permissions/thumbs, create this thing as a group not separatedly?

I'm willing to help. This is what community is for. I don't mind if people go to macish site not mine because my purpose is just want to share.
I will contact oOo The DEEJ oOo to help him gathered all the files
You can look for the distributing notice in the read me files included with the prog (in most cases located at the very top or bottom). But remember, hosting such apps such as Y'z Apps will be illegal since Apple ordered the author to stop production and distribution of his apps. Another thing is that you could team up with Deej with his site by him focusing on skins and you focusing on the progs, more like a strong affiliation. And then you could create a strong affiliation with here and thus creating a triumvrant of progs, skins and forum. But remember that this will probly will only work if it's free, so that will be hard to keep. Good luck though.
