[release] X-gel Brushed Web Template

Right, finally I have a version that can at least stand on its own two legs for you hungry ones to download and tinker with to your hearts content.

Included:

Sample HTML Files + Blank File

PDF User Guide

PhotosShop PSD File

All Images Needed + Blank Button.

Go Get Them 1.3 MB (1,321,508 bytes for verification purposes.)

I think everything is there. Please shout if I've goofed up somewhere along the way. It's been a long day. I'll be updating my own site shortly and you'll most likely find all files being put up up there over the next hour or so. So if anything is missing, no doubt it will be there.

I am still working on the template and tidying up around the edges. More importantly, I'm working on some extra colour packs which I will release both here and on the studio-x site. However, I've tested this version across the three major browsers and it works fine and dandy.

If anyone does anything interesting with it in the meantime, I'd love to see it.

I've just noticed that I've added an extra images folder in the zip for some weird reason. You can safely delete the second images folder /images/images. It contains only one spacer file.

its a template to make your own webpage easily, kindof like a stockphoto, but its a stock webpage template.

There are some areas where, if you are certain about your design, you could remove some of the images and use a background colour. (Which brings along its own issues in some browsers.)

I think some of the table cells down the bottom, for example, could be hacked this way. Anyway, I'm sort of going through everything today and seeing where improvements can be made.

This is definitely awesome, but I do have one question. I haven't been using Photoshop 7 to long. Can someone explain how to save an individual slice, like the menu buttons, after I chenge the text??

I would really appreciate the help that anyone can offer.

Click on "Save for Web" on the File menu. Then when you have your slices in front of you, select ONLY the one you want to save. Then make sure that you choose "Images Only" and "Selected Slices Only" from the save options.

Sorta depends on what you want I guess.

I loved FrontPage for years until I was introduced to DreamWeaver. Only then do you realise how limited FrontPage is. Having said that, I'll still flip back to it every now and again if I want to do something quick. But when it comes to CSS integration, DreamWeaver wins hands down.

Then there's GoLive. I have it installed and rarely touch it. I must sit down and have a proper look at it.

So my vote goes on DreamWeaver MX.

I just tried Dreamweaver MX, and I like it. It was pretty easy to make the changes that I wanted so far. I have an enormous amount to learn to really utilize more of the program. I think I am going to stick with it.

One of the best features is the "Extended Table View" mode. It really helps you to see where you've goofed up on the table cells or where the colspan/rowspan has gone wrong.

Stick with it - it really is worth the extra effort that goes into it.

i'm still new to the web site stuff... i'm trying to use this template but i don't need quite as many buttons on mine... for example on this photo, i only have 4 buttons. how do i fill in the rest of the row with just blank brushed metal?
