Someone is really messing with your computer. I've never heard of anything like this happening outside of having a virus. Sorry man.

You might have the my documents and the my recent documents system folders mixed up --- not "you" as in seph... "you" as in your windows installation. Why do I come up with this loony idea? Because that's what the "recent" folder does, keep a bunch of shortcuts (.lnk files) to everything you do ("go paranoia!!!")

I'm not sure what could cause this, but check your paths everywhere you can think of; the path to recent documents should be: "C:\Documents and Settings\[uSERNAME]\Recent".

That's the best I can come up with at the moment. Sorry I can't be of more help.

man, ok, give it up... WHAT IS YOUR TRICK, do you KNOOOW everything???

That was what was happening GillBates!! Now, more concerning.... WHYYYY WOULLD IT HAPPEN!??!?! it was changed in the registry!!

I dont think anyone is hcking me im behind a firewall!

Anyway.. THANX A LOT as usual you saved me...

Cheers and Keep it up

And today.. We obseve the quiet and solitudal life of.. The Windows animal.. It has a curious reaction to any contact. It dies. Suprisingly, even with thousands of Windows dying per hour, they seem to spreed futher and futher. It now holds four-fifths of the world in it's grasp and might result in the extinction of the rival animal: The Apple.

The Windows animal grows in stages, while it is in short contact with humans;

Stage 1: It obeys almost every command given.

Stage 2: It starts to smell and then dribble on the furniture.

Stage 3: It goes blind, deaf, dumb and immobile.

Stage 4: It dies and has to be buried and replaced.

(And on a serious note: Format the drive/partition with Windows on and start again, if this keeps happening make some partitions to store important files (such as themes etc) so you don't have to download/make them again.)

The multiple shortcut file:

My explanation is that somehow the Shift key is 'stuck'. That's how shortcuts are made (I think ).

You can't rename files:

Its either a virus, or somehow your permissions are set incorrectly. Oh, wait, we're talking about Windows here. Maybe you're a Limited User or some registry hack disabled the ability to rename files.

In any case, dump Windows.

well, I'm 'glad' it worked out.

By the way, now that you mention Tweak XP, I remembered something. I use(d) Tweak UI, and after applying some changes thru it, it seems it change a few other things too. I think they are Tweak UI defaults or something which override your preset defaults when you apply any change via the software.

It honestly sounds like some one or some program is effing with your registry settings... if I knew where to find delete permissions I'd help ya, but I don't, sorry.
