i get your point, but i can see why authors would get p'd off. Just look at some of the work that gets put into icon sets... for free. The difference between mp3s and icons, vs's, etc. is that musicians already make money whereas these authors don't make any off their stuff. I don't think its much to ask for readme's being included and permissions obtained.

I don't think its necessarily a high horse thing, more a very minimal level of respect being asked for. For example, look at the new Gant pack by mattahan, and imagine how much work went into it. You don't have the think hard to realize that putting these out to the public is a pretty nice thing to do, and being nice back isn't all that hard is it?

And yeah, i read that post that you quote and it is kindof a silly statement, but not really representative of most of the authors out there.

And DONT start another "we're stealing from apple anyway" thread. Its the WORK that we value. If you make an icon by hand, it takes hours and hours, even if it is a "copy".

Hell, Matisse ripped off Picasso and Picasso ripped off everyone, but they're still genious's.

I find it so very hypocritical when the same people that piss and moan about their icons being ripped off are the same guys with several gigs of "borrowed" mp3's......not to mention the "borrowed" copy of Photoshop or whatever program they're using to render.
