Wait, did you do an "UPGRADE" from ME to XP? If you did, you're stuck, they're bound together.
If you have them seperate, just format the partitions by right clicking on them.
You can then delete the boot entry from boot.ini in "msconfig".
its not an upgrade. The week after i put ME on the computer i made a seperate place in the drive for Xp so theyre not together its just that ME overlaps XP and i want ME off without un installing XP
Then do what I told you to do.

Are both installations are on the same partition? or did you create a separate partition for XP?
If both installations are on the same FAT partition (and XP was a clean installation) I'd just delete the relevant ME directories/folders i.e. \Program files and \Windows making sure not to delete any 'overlapping' program you may have e.g. one installation of MS Office in the same \Program Files that is used by both Me and XP.
If you created two partitions e.g. one FAT16/32 (Me) and one NTFS (XP) then it's slightly more complicated as it depends on whether the second partition is inside an extended partition.
I'd still go with contra's advice and format everything and start with a clean installation of XP!!! but its your call!
