I'll Create A Perfect Jaguar Skin, If..

I've been teaching myself how to create perfect replicas of the interface designs of Jaguar. So far I've mastered the brushed effect, min/max/close buttons, title bar, fill-in boxes, etc.

What I need to know is a couple of things:

Can the background of windows be skinned? Such as "Connecting To...". I don't want just a solid color for a background, I want image backgrounds!

Can I get perfectly smooth round edges for the title bars?

-------------------

This can be using Windowblinds, Tasliman, Litestep, etc. I just need to know if any 3rd party program does these things.

If your avatar pic is a showoff of your aqua button skills, i'll have to (no offense) ask you to revise them...

Aqua buttons are glossier in comparison to yours... that can be easily fixed, though... you just have to make the primary hilite (the one on the top) brighter and with smaller radius blur/feather...

On the other hand, it would be nice to see something original or at least different from the Aqua widgets... it's kinda boring to see the same UI over and over again... And on platform it doesn't belong to... With Apple logos all over them...

Edit: Also, i think the aqua min/max/close buttons have a continuous linear gradient from top to bottom, not a circular one centered at the bottom... (i'm talking about the "inner shine" at the bottom of the orbs)

Yes, but not all window types and not all areas of windows...

Short answer: NO!

Long answer: I asked stardock people if wblinds skins will support alpha channels (for skin edges, not widgets) in near future (read: wb4.0) and they've said "no!"... reason: wblinds rely on XP engine for a lot of things, performance would be hindered, hack would be needed, blah, blah

Hope that helped...

I agree about seeing the same thing over and over.. It seems while all us PC users are desperately trying to emulate the OSX interface all the Mac users are desperately bored of it.

Personally, I like the Milk look, I've even made my own custom objectbar theme for it.

msstyles can do that seeing you use pngs ;)

It CAN??? Didn't know that... Are you COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY SURE???

He didn't mean the edges of buttons and other widgets... he was talking about WINDOW EDGES...

1. I never ever saw A SINGLE msstyle that had antialiased window border...

2. IF THAT'd be true, then WBlinds would be able to do that by leveraging xp's engine... and, like i said, the stardock people said it CAN'T BE DONE unless they implement a hack that would paint a titlebar seperatly over the existing one (or instead of existing one)

I'm afraid that it's impossible. I'v tried to do it in every possible way (also, using PNG's) with no luck... Anyway, I don't have "the truth"....

I'll beta test for you.

it works ;) just might not look the way you want, i've done it on the caption bars looks good but say ur viewing the window on a black bk and then the captionbars on a white bk, the alpha parts of the caption bars will stay black :S but some times it works. some times it doesnt.
