Changing The Way Ico Files Display In Explorer?

Recently I upgraded to ACDsee 5.0 and let it associate itself with ICO files. When it did it caused Explorer to stop displaying the icons that were in the ICO files and show the icon ACDsee had set for the ICO extention. So now I have no easy way to preview my ICO files. Anyone know how to change that back to the way it was?

maybe this will work..

go to any explorer window, then the tools menu > folder options > filetypes tab/page then go to .ico and remove it i think that should do the trick, but im not sure =/

No luck with that. It just made them display as the unknown file type default icon.

rightclick an icon, select openwith, and select "Choose Program" The browse for "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" which is likely to be on top, then check the option that says always open this type of file with this application, and click apply or ok. That way it will be resotered to windows default, ofcourse you can change to other app, hope it works.

good luck.

go to google and type in (with the quotes) "icons as icons". One of the pages that shows up in the results tells how to fix the problem..

A little bit late... but I think I may be able to help you out with this. First, you launch ACDSee 5.0. Then you go to Tools>Options (or Preferences?). Go to File Associations and uncheck '*.ICO' ... There you go... you may need to reboot...
