[help] Icon's Cache Simply Won't Rebuild

Now icons show BOTH what they should be and out of the blue icon that covers them - like another layer on top. Also if i force an appearance with microangelo (for example) of a certain icon, it will NOT change. I'll try again, and the NEW icon i assigned shows up on the properties window, as if everything went on fine. No matter how many times ill try to RE-apply that - the old icon will STAY the same.

In fact, one time when i tried to apply again, there was this quick flash of the icon's cache rebuild - and i could notice the REAL icons quickly appear but then immidiately replaced with the same incorrect icons..

I have tried ALLLLL rebuild icon cache tools possible, I have tried to remove "bad" cache from the memory - but nothing helped removing the incorrect displaying of the icons.

Anyone knows what can be done?

is there anything i could do something directly from the registry?

Are they folders or files?

I assume they are files, since you use microangelo to change them.

Check these 2 things:

1. Your "x:\WINDOWS\Installed System Icons" folder. It contains all the icons you set with Microangelo. Check if they are the correct ones. If not, delete them and tell Microangelo to rebuild system cache.

2. In Windows Explorer, Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Select a file type you have altered, click Advanced and Change Icon. This will take you to the location of the icon associated with it. If it's changed with Microangelo, it should be in the "Installed System Icons" folder.

Ok i managed to fix all icons back to normal look (more than I had before, yet still there are lots of win32 icons I just couldnt find a mac clone for..)

anyway so far so good - I just realized that the drives icons will NEVER change no matter what I assign.

I use both microangelo and ChaneIcon however none seem to have an effect

anyone has a solution (please dont tell me to install sp1, i heard it before). :order:

Here's a sample of what I use to change my drive icons. For some drives it didn't show up until a rebuild of the icon cache and a reboot, though.
