Hello there
Ive been having this problem lately where everytime i restart, my main icons (e my computer, my documents, connect to, etc) are restored back to windows originals...
Ive only had this problem since i installed axilaxis icon workshop 5.0 could it be linked to it? how can i fix it?
Otherwise everytime i restart i have to open IP and re load the theme im using...
Im also using snow shell... might be of interest...

I have both IW and IP installed. And I'm also using my own GANT shell32. But my icons are working fine.
There's a function in IW to customize your icons. Did you customize your icons using that function?
i didnt actually change anything, no, but i did browse through it...
I thouhg that may had triggered the problem too...
any clues?! its really annoying!
if you're using the snow shell, wouldn't the icons revert to the snow icons and not windows default? unless of course those weren't changed.
and i know this won't help, but iconphile is another great app for changing icons, which you can find here. i've had no problems with icons reverting or going default on me while using this app. 
well, thats what i think too (About the shell reverting to its state! but for some strange reason no, i get that horrible winxpo my computer icon... this is so weird...

Where can I get GANT shell32.dll ???
i jsut found out whats happening the shell file all of the sudden in the place of the my computer icon has a normal dos window which means, no icon... or the icon is corrupted... so it takes the explorer.exe icon
i reinstalled the shell... NOTHING same thing again... its driving me nuts...
ANY CLUES?

Cro_x there is a thread here (Search for gant) taht has someone posting the news about it, i downloaded it there as well asa an IP package...

I had a similar problem with some of my icons (specifically my drive icons) showing the dos icon a few months ago after I installed SP1. I had no idea what was causing the problem. It was irritating me, and I could not find a solution to it. That led me to reformat my XP. :rant:
I tried this, but it didn't work.
I also played around with the registry icon settings (see them here), but it didn't work.
Maybe one of them would work for you, Seph.
Also, there's a function in IW that requires a reboot when clearing your icon cache. Try that, instead of the normal Rebuild Icon Cache (w/o rebooting) function.
Edit: @cro__x: I made the GANT shell myself. You should try it yourself. It's fun. 
Seph, If you had the "launch folder windows in a seperate process" checked just uncheck it from the folder options' view panel as this may be one of many reasons for that problem to occur.
