Does Anybody Know About This?

Hello folks ......

Well i really want to know....

How can i run my own server (I`m not talking about that i want to be my own Web host and that kind of stuffs) i just don`t want to connect to my internet provider, i want to be my own internet provider you know..... ofcourse i`ll be the only one to connect to it.. so it is not necessary to be as big as the one my internet company has ....

yeah want to have that.... what do i need (remember i don`t want it to be the GREATES one ... maybe a Home made one ) maybe not home build ... coz i will need only Pcs with a good software and so on....

so i don`t need to use my dial up connection to connect to my internet provider coz that will be my self... :D

So ... have an idea ? (Y)

man, all the equipment will be REALLY expensive :blink:

and you need to buy bandwidth...

i dont suggest u to do all this, just find a good privider and thats all ;)

You will have to buy broadband (such as a T1 or T3 connection, wich is really expensive) from other ISP, there is no way to avoid this if you want to have your own ISP and you don't want to be as big as an ISP :P

what was your plan? why would you think is not expensive? plus in some o****ries you have to get a license that involves privacy statements and so on with government and WTO and ITU....

Its not like installing a network at home...

Now you need to set up a Nameserver for your host. And if you don't have experience with UNIX based systems, you're gonna have a rough time there. Or *buy* (har) a copy of Win 2000+ Server, and set all that up.

On another side note, just searched google for the speeds you're going to achieve with your 10,000+ venture.

T-1 - 1.544 megabits per second (24 DS0 lines) Ave. cost $400.-$950./mo.

T-3 - 43.232 megabits per second (28 T1s) Ave. cost $8,000.-$18,000./mo.

So you're gonna get 1.54megabit's on your $900 T1, compared to paying $40 for a cable modem and getting 700-800 megabit's.

Go the whole hog and get a OC48 line, it's only $300,000 for a few years. ;) (Mind you it does run at like 3.5GB per sec)

Opton online gives like 400 KB per second up to like 2 Gigs (only if the server you are download off of has high bandwidth) average speeds for opton online is 600 KB. you pay 50 $ per month or 45 $ if you have their cable TV also. ;)

Ah well, 400-600 _kilo_bits is much more believable. ;) I get just under 2 megabits typically with RoadRunner. I'd switch in a heartbeat to get 800 megabits for $5 less a month.
