Awesome Pic. Of Isabel
I saw this picture at another site and the people there determined that this was a photoshopped picture. It makes sense because the water is calm everywhere - no signs of winds and hurricanes usually cause large waves and flooding.
You can not see a hurricane lol, so who ever made that is one stupid feck :6,
all a hurricane is, is a big storm, its not a big tornado.
Actually this is a real picture of the hurricane. They had a few shots from this tanker up on the weather stations. Thats the outter wall of the hurricane (giant cloud formations) and the tanker does seem far enough away that there could be calm waters.

Its LIKE a tornado. Two big masses of swirling wind. :canadian:
Yeah, hurricanes are basically really feckin big tornadoes that start out at sea, where they have the chance to grow to frighteningly massive proportions, whereas tornados generally start on land and are much more focused.
you can't "see" a tornado, either, because all it is is really fast winds, but you can see the clouds and debris that get caught in it, just like a hurricane.
Still.. an awe-inspiring sight.. there probably wasn't a person on that tanker who wasn't thinking "Holee sh##."
-=EDIT=- The board censored me! Well, I'll be, I never realized they had any filters set up. I wonder what else gets caught.... -=/EDIT=-
Sweet...I still had this URL on my clipboard: http://www.snopes.com/photos/isabel.asp. (Y) ![]()
Sometimes when these huricanes come ashore they are carring F3, F4, and even F5 tornados in these outer band walls. I believe when huricane David hit back in the 80's it had an F5 tornado that cut a real nice swath through Florida. I have the National Geographic will all the pictures somewhere. So its just not the huricane but what it can create and drag along with it. I am happy I live in the Pacific Northwest. All I have to worry about are super quakes 8.0 and above and volcanoes, and tsunamis. ![]()
