[release] Wmp Taskbar Itunes-like Mod

It's been a while since I've seen anything about changing the way Windows media player looks when it's in minimized taskbar mode, I guess it's because pretty much everyone here uses docks (I personally prefer the windows taskbar, but that's something for another thread)... so after Stevie BM made the kick ass iTunes skin for WMP I had to do something about the taskbar skin. It uses transparency so it looks good with pretty much every visual style; here's a preview:

I'm not going to attach the dll (%Windir%/System32/wmploc.dll) because of version incompatibilities and such, but I'm attaching the bitmaps if anyone wants to reshack their own.

It's a painless process, you just have to replace bitmaps in reshacker, the name of the bitmap is the number you have to replace. Make sure WMP is not loaded and you replace wmploc.dll in System32 and in System32\DLLCache and before you try anything *ALWAYS BACKUP*.

I guess that's all; I hope there still are some taskbar users out there... we're a dying breed

Hey Devil! You must've been switching themes, right?

I had that happen to me when I was trying to get the screencaps for the preview. You just have to switch it to full mode and back to minized again after the switch. I hope that's the problem, the transparency is made with "magic pink" which kind of sux when compared with other methods (like PNG transparency) but I think it's more efficient resource-wise.

yea i do have probs when switching too but i also do have it normally. like when i minimized it the first time n when i thought it was only that theme, i tried other themes too. yes after changing the themes i maximised it n minimised it again but i still get those rough edges

replacer wont let me replace it says wmploc is in memory try using pview to remove it ....whats pview how else can I do it always used replacer with no problem

change it manually. didnt give me any probs that way.

be sure to put in in service pack files n dllcache. the file wasnt there in my dllcache, should be there in urs. so make sure to put them in there first

I really like what has been created. I do have one question. I don't use the XP taskbar anymore, but does anyone know how to add the to objectbar?? It would be really cool to be able to use this with objectbar.

Silly question.

How exactly do you minimize WMP to the sys tray? I'm using whatever version comes with XP, is it not an option in that release? (8.0?). And if so, how does one go about doing it? This little hack looks nifty, and given the Itunes skinf or WMP, may make me throw QCD out the window.

You can change the color (although not as much as I'd want) by going to View-> Enhancements-> Color Chooser; I would've liked a darker color, but it seems it's not in the cards

if it not there place it there thats what i did n be sure to replace the one in the service pack files folder too. n last replace it with the one in system 32. simple
