Desktop Pictures In Os 8

Is there a program to pack a .gif image, to use with the Desktop Picture chooser? It doesn't seem to like using just the image, how do I need to pack/stuff it?

Any help is great (any app needs to be for OS8.1).

What worked for me is opening the pic with netscape and having Netscape save it as a jpeg... Then it works w/ desktop pics
