Dma Problem

My problem:

I can`t make DMA work for me on my PC. I know for a fact that ma HD, CDR, CDRW and motherboard support DMA. I turned DMA on both in BIOS (AMI bios) and Device Manager but all devices work only in PIO mode.

HELP:

My Config:

OS: WinXP profesional

Motherboard: SiS 748LMRT

Processor: Intel Celeron 600 MHz

RAM: 512 MB SDRAM

CD ROM: Lite-ON 40x (Slave on primary channel)

CD RW: LG 52/24/52x (Master on secondary channel)

Hard Drive: Seagate 4.3 GB (Master on primary IDE channel)

hmm, try toggling the dma/pio setting. set to pio, then restart, then set to dma, then restart. sometimes toggling it helps. i'll try to find other solutions, though.

I`ve toggled it form TOP to BOTTOM. I`ve tryed even uninstalling IDE controlers in Device Manager and restarting PC as recomended.

I`ve tryed everything I could think of but nothing worked.

same prob for me on my cd rom ... what i did was i took off the cd rom and boot my pc .... which now doesnt detect my device, uninstall IDE controllers, shutdown ..... connect my CD rom again .... then boot (autodetects the drivers) ..... and poof ... DMA on my CD rom again :) WINDOWS is really weird!

NOTE: this might have a different effect to others, but for me it worked.
