Hi WhiteDove, the Kanji ¨道可道，非常道¨ is the first two verses in Tao Te Ching's first chapter, the book that originate Taoism. Its meaning has been debated and explained by many famous scholars and philosophers over the years. But it is like a mystery, no one can truly tell its intended and original meaning, except the ancient and also mystical author, Lao Zi. Roughly the common explanation translated into English is the following:

"The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao."

"tao" means "Path, Way, Truth, the law that operates everything in this world and our life". Many wise people have said that the book Tao Te Ching cannot be explained in word (although it is written in word), read it with soul, with the deepest being, and maybe u have chance to understand it.

I may not do a good job explaining this, but if u are interested here is a link where someone translated Tao Te Ching in English. To me it is just a philosophy, very deep, and hopefully I would understand it completely one day.

Very nice. I'm liking the latter versions of these much better than your first version (no offense). I like the texture of the empty space a lot.
