Is It Possible To Skin Dialog Backrounds In Xp

i want my computer to be neat but its sort of ugly if the entire thing is skinned with stripes or something else and then a gray or other plain ugly colored dialog backround pops up. I know that people have said to use like window blinds 1.0 but i don't have that program avaiable to me, plus that would slow my comp down. Is there any program made specifically to doing this or at least a registry edit that i could do? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yeah, good point. I'd like to have nice backgrounds without that sluggish Windowblinds too...

If windowblinds is sluggish... how come it's better? So much better that it skins dialog backgrounds for you?

STFF

Gee, you people are so helpful... <_<

#56295

aww, they're just playing around. :)

anyway, i tried searching and all i found was adding a bitmap to the right-click menu (very neat!).

i'm guessing you should head over to wint.virtualplastic.net for your dialog hacking needs.

dialog hacks

that'll teach you how to put a bitmap on the dialogs.

I put performance and comfort before the beauty. Wblinds is too slow and I'd like to find some other (faster and simplier) way to get skinned backgrounds.

@contrasutra: FOM - that's my acronym, guess what it stands for by yourself. I suppose you know that there are lots of suggestions posted to change the search system which is horrible and discouraging. Apart of that - you're a MOD, aren't you? I guess you should help people, not slap'em all the time. :D

@flarex, relativity: here's the thread we're looking for.

And I've put inside of it kinda panther background.

Download the file and regsvr it. ;)

thanks pe7er! i found that link too, but it adds a bitmap to the context menu, being a shell extension made by that great creator grigri. does it add a bitmap to windows dialog boxes too?

No it doesn't. I've read some things on that WinT's webpage, found an article about dialog boxes and I think I'll try to mod this thing. Even if it ends up with success I suppose that I'll have to mod every dialog box separately. I don't know yet.

Hopefully I'll flood this thread with modded dlls....

#56558

yeah, that's the problem. you need to put the bitmap on all the different dialogs. :(

hopefully it's not too bad, and it doesn't seem too hard.

show us a screenie when you do mod them! :)

#56559

thank you alot Pe7er

edit: too bad it only skins one part of the dialog gui. The panther bg you did Pe7er was also nifty. Thanks once again.

Good luck.

Anymore similar threads opened by other memebers will be simply deleted. Enough with the lazyness without using the search or not opening what still exists 60, or 90 days ago - or even from the very begining. I'm not mad at people in person cause nobody does it on purpose. But when it happens constantly its so annyoing.

Please try, i know a lot of those threads poping up in the search, but since we use the [pattern] things can get a little more percise.

Thank you <_<
