Steve Jobs Paris Keynote

As you'll all be aware, Steve Jobs is doing a Keynote speech today in Paris. I know I'm not the only Paris-based Aqua-Softer, but is anyone else going along to it?

I'm going extra early to assure myself a place, so won't be able to hear replies from any of you until later on. All being well, I'll have some nice stories for later on.

They have some huge Cupertino-shipped crates in the Exhibition Hall - my money's on either a new 15" Powerbook (long overdue) or maybe even a beefier iBook, containing either this mooted G3+ Altivec enabled chip, or a 1 GHz G4.

Hmm, I wonder how much bull he'll spew this time around. Frankly, I wouldn't believe anything he says based on his past flights of fancy. <_

The Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse uses AA Batteries, which suck IMO. Single button and no scroll wheel, sucks even more. And expensive! No one is gonna buy these.

Taha, the above story is true. The main show was a letdown for me, I'm afraid.

80% of the keynote was a re-hash of the WWDC one, including the G5 stuff and the Panther Preview, including an iChat AV presentation, talking to Stanley Ng in London, and a random Frenchman in Cupertino who spoke appalling English.

The only new product announcements were the Powerbooks, and a Bluetooth Wireless mouse and keyboard.

While the 12" PB looks a good value product now, even moreso than before, I can't say I regret my iBook.

I even got my camera taken off me before going in. :( The tragedy of metal detectors before one enters an arena. Fortunately I got to put it in my bag in the cloakroom no problems.

So I'm afraid that there's no big story from me, but it was an experience I enjoyed. Perhaps as I'm a tad more cynical than most people who would have been there, my enjoyment was tainted by this. Still, it's not everyone who sits in the Media section (genuine error) for such an occasion, and is sitting directly in front of Shawn King from the Your Mac Life radio show. Too bad I hate that show, but still.
