thats absurd. What are you going to use a laptop for that you would want/need raid.

one of the laptops comes with an mp3 player in-built.

kinda heavy but who cares, this stuff rocks.

yeah, it's a really good desktop replacement. the only problem is, if something goes wrong with the hardware, i can't really swap the parts out myself like i can with a desktop.

Hi everyone. I am trying to get a laptop and going thru a confusion phase and i would appreciate some insights.

What would be the best specs a laptop should have to make it a laptop worth buying. I am intending to use for personal,home use only( email,internet,imaging,music....etc.)

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

mac or pc?

Mac: get an iBook. Great machines.

PC: Get Centrino. Best PC laptops around. A little more expensive though.

Dont get a dell Laptop. Lately, they love to put in proprietary parts that crap out and are hard to replace. Ive seen so many problems with them.

Their PCs are good though.

what company do you suggest?

I've seen Laptops with RAID before.

okay here are a couple of choices:

1. dell latitude d800, centrino 1.7ghz, 15.4" less than 2k, about 3+ hrs battery.

2. dell latitude d600, centrino 1.6ghz, 14.1, slightly more expensive.

3. dell inspiron 5150, p4 3.06ghz, 15, less than 2k

check this babies out, quite a few bangs for your bucks, all should come out less

than 2k.

hey, it seems amd is out with a new chip, the mobile 64 bit (athlon 64-m).

might be the first 64 bit cpu in a portable.
