Iphoto : You Want It, You'll Have It

Hi huys,

I saw a lot of people complaining about the lack of an iPhoto clone. Well, actually, I'm working on it for a few weeks (see the screenshot below).

It's far from completition though, and I would need some help, like for instance WIA (Windows Image Acqusition) and Twain samples for Visual Basic to get images from Digital cameras. Reliable and fast source code for Image manipulation would also be appreciated. I was thinking also of a a web service that would simulate the iDisk feature too.

Anyways, if someone is interested in giving me some help, I could compile some sort of wish list. Ohh, and by the way, for the moment I would need any screenshot from the real iPhoto you can get, even the slightest detail. That would help me a bunch!!! here's my email to send pix : levernoy@cybercable.fr

Ok, cut the crap and give me something to tease me !!!!!! here it goes :

(Features some pictures I've taken in the street, the Louvre, Paris rooftops, and ... guess what :P !)

#5042

holy ****e stash, that is really cool!

gonna try and get you some screenshots....

#5056

Nice B) Although I probably wouldn't use it, as I just don't like the brushed look :(

#5057

That's amazing I can't wait to try it out.

#5058

Well actually I'm sorry, but you will have to wait a little while before I can get a pre-pre-alpha working, but if I get pointers to sample source code for the various modules I need to assemble, it should be pretty fast.

To answer simon, I could also make an aqua version if there's enough people interested.

Any help is appeciated !!!!!!!!!!!

#5060

That is fantastic.

#5061

looks great, I hope it is stable.

#5063

WOW! Amazing! I will try to get you some nice high quality pics immediately. And your actually thinking of making it react to the plug in of a digital camera? WOW. This is incredible. And by the way there is no aqua version of iPhoto. That is the only way iPhoto can look. So Simon, I dont know why you are looking for an aqua version, because their is none.

Amazing Stash. Simply amazing!

Best pics out there...

Great job on the iPhoto clone. Can't wait to ditch my other app and replace it with that.

#5146

It's really beautiful. :D

Any ideas on a release date?

Keep up the good work.

Nice Photos. ;)

Cheers.

#5163

I have no idea about the release date. Nor I want to tell you one I won't respect :) Besides, I'll post screenshots from time to time, and maybe a working interface so that we all agree on the interface and behaviour of the app.

And thanks about the photos, you're the only one who told me that

#5178

hi Stash, please add to your digital cameras list Olympus C-220, if it was been on them, your program was been very good! good work!

pithos :D

Actually on the mac if you use a program called metallifizer you can make all apps use the iapp skin or none, which would make ichat or iphoto use aqua (or other system scheme).

Well how the hell was I supposed to know? <_<

#5184

Simon : You have the right to dislike the metal look anyways, and if I have time and enough requests i'll make it aqua too, though it's not my priority for the moment ... at all :P

Smoke : For the metal thing I'm using the aquaControls (Well actually iAppControl of something like that). That's cleaner, it works great, and I don't depend on some third party software.

Pithos : It's not that simple !!! I have a G2 and I really had trouble getting the code samples from Canon. Besides, there's a lot of coding involved. I might create a plugin framework, so that programmers can code plugins for my app and for their specific camera (most likely a unique plugin will work for any camera of the same brand). By the way, how am I supposed to debug an app if I don't have the camera to test it !! You see, that's a big problem. Maybe I'll stick to TWAIN support, though I'm not sure every cam supports it.

I was just pointing out that on a real mac it's possible to have iapps without the brushed metal look on them.
