response time is a slow 25ms, but for the price, this is pretty good, i think.

That does sound like a decent deal. 17" is very big, and the refresh is nice (75Hz).
The warranty is good too. But make sure of the companies policy on "dead pixels" before purchasing.
Personally, I want a replacement if there are ANY dead pixels (that kind of thing annoys me).

as for the monitor, i don't know the pixel policy, and i can't seem to find it on the site, which annoys me. i'd like to exchange it if there are any dead pixels too.
anyway, here's a better spec sheet (from hp): specs
and i just checked the "calculate tax and shipping" and it says $0 for ups and fedex ground shipping.
just a heads up for all of you looking to get an lcd monitor. i might get this too. 
One catch here is the lack of a DVI port. This thing is running off of a VGA only input.
So your computer is outputting digital -> converting to analog ->and then converting back to digital.
DVI allows for digital -> digtal

yeah, i saw that. my gainward ti4200 only has an analog port so it's just what i need.
but for the price, it's not bad for daily use.

DVI:
digital (computer)--> Digital connection --> Analog
VGA:
digital (computer)--> Analog connection --> analog
You're forgetting, the image you're seeing on the screen is analog. Its not really digital. That is, unless you can read binary?
I have a VGA LCD and it looks fine. I dont do any professional video/photo work, but i've had no problems. Cheap at the time too(15in for $300).
it seems like a good deal, but since companies will be marketing faster (like 16ms response time) lcd monitors in the near future, i'm thinking it might be better to wait.
is 25ms that bad for movies?
well i just bought one. if it's bad, i'll sell it on ebay and cover the cost, and maybe make a profit.

ok, so hp took down the promo, as the site is now suffering from "technical difficulties." i've tried finding the item through their website, and it's now listed at full price.
my friend still wants the lcd and the promo is supposedly valid until 9/21. can hp just end the promo like that? i think they're experiencing an unexpectedly high load of purchases and don't want to lose more money.
i've still got my receipts that mention the promotion, and i think my friend can still get the lcd, but sales reps claim it's a pricing error and all their supervisors are out. any suggestions?
