Well, there is a solution, namely a program called WindowFX, still if you want to use it, you must register after 30 days (or find a crack 
)
Personally I don't bother to have large icons view in explorer; it's "start menu" which is bothering me with huge icons size... And I don't want to check the box "show small icons in start menu".
Anyone knows if there is a solution to let the start menu have it's own size of icons, while all other icons are as you want them to be 
?

I think from the top of my head that desktopX 1.92beta with ICONX can resize icons only on desktop.. I have tried it out only once, but i think i saw a feature for that somewhere. [ PM me for more info

The best solution i found until now is Desktop X 1.2. Seems that Windows FX2 allows big icons on desktop too, but i don´t use it, so i have no sure.Take a look at
About desktop X 1.2
There´s some restrictions, althought it works fine for me as it is. The icons that desktopx puts in your desktop are in reality desktopx objects that uses the images provided by an .ico file. It can simply use directly the hires version of the windows icons that appear in your desktop.
This means that you have to create an desktop x object for everyone of the icons that you want to appear in your desktop in big size, then configure it to show the hires version of the icon.
If you don´t save files and folders directly in your desktop, this approach will work just fine. If you save files and folders to your desktop they will appear in the default windows icons size.
Another negative point is that desktop x objects doesn´t behave like windows icons when you right click them (except some, like my computer).There´s no right click menus for them.
But desktop x has some other advantages and functions that you can use too. Try it, maybe you like the way it works too.
I can post a screenshot if you want, so you can have a better ideia what i´m talking about.
