pcedit, probably no one here uses a filter or effects. What i do is for example look at my avator. I made a rounded square, and ctrl clicked the shape, made a new layer and filled the selected shape with a gradient (white to transparent) it works. But make sure you resize the highlight, meaning at least make it shorter.

I would be interested in getting those gloss effects though. Could you email them to me at

chudyabc1@earthlink.net?

I would really appreciate that.

I personally use different layers to get my desired effect.

If you want I'll host the file on Oxygen. Send it to me and I'll upload it.

Only takes a few mins.

#54846

its the same as using different layers there just already made to be placed on your graphic

Yeah.. styles are good at the begining.. but they get SO boring... you gotta use many layers to achieve your effect.. the mac os X aqua internet orb network icon dealy thingy.. i have 72 or so layers in it

Nothing like a bit of Style Snobbery to bring a smile to yer face.

Q. Do styles get the job done?

A. Yes, quite often they do.

Q. Do styles save in design time?

A. Yes, undoubtedly they do.

Q. Did Adobe plan for them to be used.

A. Yes, of course.

Q. Are you better because you avoid styles?

A. Not one bit. Maybe just a bit slower.

It's akin to sweeping the floors instead of using a vacuum. Great if you're a purist but totally pointless and futile.

As for "You gotta use many layers to achieve your effect..." - I think he said he wanted a glass and plastic look - not to invent the stuff from scratch. If you need more than a few layers to createa glass look then methinks it may be your method at fault, not the use of styles!

Sorry about the rant, it's that style snobbery rubbish - really gets on my tits.

Anyway, to answer the initial question - try this page.

http://photoshopgurus.info/intermediate/gl..._buttons3.shtml

It's a pretty detailed tutorial which will give you a pretty good grounding. Be patient and experiment a little. Don't take every setting as set in stone.

Good luck.

You can get it from the Adobe Studio Exchange, Along with thousands of other styles, brushes, shapes, etc.

http://share.studio.adobe.com/axQuickSearc...x=0&submit1.y=0

If you're not a member then you will need to create an account. It's free and quick to do so.

I went to that site and check the filters section.

Didn't see the one that was similar to pcdit. The screens were not accurate and the titles didn't give me a clue.

Could you tell me what its called in order to save time downloading all of the filters.

Aaaall right, got it!

(Idiot  , could think of it by myself) :D:D

#55275

So, can someone post it here please?

Guys, could you help me out a bit... I created an account at Adobe, but every time I try to log in, it kicks me to the same login page saying "An unknown error occurred"...

So, could anybody send me those files (like those 8 in SniperX's link)? I'd really appreciate that.

EDIT: please send to m.fedoseev at mail.ru
