Better don't get a DELL, had one for 3 years. Was broken very often.
What's your budget? If you have $1000 I would really recommend to buy a MacBook. You won't have any problems with it!
Yes, get a MacBook. I have a Alu MacBook here, but a white unibody is still very good. And you´d have OSX.
But we have a Dell D600 here and never had an issue in 5 years. But it gets slow now. (and you´re stuck with Windows).
I've recently bought an HP laptop and am quite happy with it, no problems so far and it was well worth the money. I personally prefer HP over Dell.
