Spam?

Is anyone planning to stop this ridiculous amount of spam that is raiding the forums?

We are getting a ton of spam, only so much we can do about it. Only about 2 of us msp69 and myself are around to remove it when we see it. May need to add another mod on board if someone is up for it.

Why not set up some kind of SPAM filter, or SPAM mod?

The sad reality is that forum spam is becoming more and more prevalent, and removing it manually is not going to cut it after a certain amount - in fact, regardless how you look at it, it's a bad use of your valuable time.

Better to automate it, and using existing best of breed tools.

I'll definitely be a mod if you need one. Make a captcha before each comment/registration.

Also, why not change this site to wordpress for example?

Why not approve each comment/thread creation before it appears. Or you can just have to approve a users first comment, etc.

Surely there can be some way we can fix this. We have a lot of dedicated users who are willing to help.

I think its cause we're still on IPB2.3, theres some sort of spam protection in ipb3, its just taking me forever to finish the skin.
