open the cast and try to find out wich part is ticking. 4/5 its a wire touching a fan (best case senario)

I have to buy a new one.
Can anyone tell me please how i can get get my info transfered to the new hard drive .Do I have just to burn them in cds? I hope this is how it is done.
Also how can i use the old drive as a slave drive.

To use a drive as a slave you have to 'jumper it' There should be 8 little pins (4x2) on the back that has a little thing on it conection 2 of them.
eg:

On the drive should be instructions saying that the pins mean. So just take the little thing out and put it bridging the apropiate pins.
To tranfer the old files your gonna have to install an OS to the new HD (i dont think u can recycle an os from disk to disk, infact im shure of it) and just copy the files from one drive to the other.
You cant really transfer programs though, unless you image the whole partition.
But for transfering "data" (images, music, docs, etc), just burn to a CD, or set the HD to slave and copy.
How do you know its the harddrive?
And a harddrive "clicking" softly, isnt anything to worry about. Ive had computers doing that for 5 years.
first of all, Thank you guys for your answers. thinking about it I think it would a bad idea to use faulty hard drive as a slave because it may cause some conflictions.I will just copy the files form it to the new one.
Contrasutra, I know that it is the hard drive because I made drive scan at reboot and it came back as failed:code 7 wich means unable to read or blocked from reading.I also checked error log in windows and was showing hard drive has a bad block. so I guess no doubt its the one.
I am not really sure if I know how to jumper it becuase I am not that good in pcs as you guys are but I can ask someone who knows how because I am afraid i will shock it or cross wire it and then it will be :pchawk:
jumpers are easy, don't worry. just look on the back side of the drive and you'll see 2 rows of tiny pins, i think 2 rows of 5 pins. the shunt is the little plastic block that fits over 2 adjacent pins, and all you need to do is look at the manual or the drive itself (it should be painted on) for the configurations, and just put the shunt over the pins.
