Apples Design Team Epic Fail

Ok, so I just updated my Apple programs for Windows. iTunes 9, iPhone Configuration Utility and Safari 4.0.3.

and I am disgusted at the poor levels of GUI work put in, it looks more like the "other computer company: 'pear computers' just made it" (sarcasm) it's cheap, half-arsed and basically unbelievable that Apple, a company that taught me to perfect every detail in GUI work could do such a shoddy job (I'm not sure if it's the same on Macs).

Safari 4.0.3:

Ugly White gradient

Back to Windows Border

iPhone Configuration Utility:

Lazy icon work with shadows and sharpness

unbelievable Max Min work

excessive blur

resize tab pixelated

iTunes 9:

Horrible Pale grad

cheap plasticky play/pause buttons

disgusting HUD colour and grad

bad bordering and max min buttons

White background un-enhances Album artwork

terrible sidebar icons

But I will say that itunes functionality has increased at least

Uh, I am not seeing half of what you are talking about here. Of course am working in Windows 7 and it has a different rendering engine than XP. Also iTunes looks a bit different in Vista and 7 than it does in XP. So it could be that Apple has built those rendering features into iTunes and XP simply can't handle them. Keep in mind that you are running a class of software that is basically written for Vista and Windows 7 on a 9 year old operating system that is graphically falling behind the times.

Why don't you load it on an install of Vista or Windows 7 and see how it looks in those before you make judgment calls on the software.

There allot of apps that are starting to not look that great in XP as they adopt the APIs for Aero. Sorry if you are a major XP devotee but times are changing and all the software companies are are moving forward as well. It won't be long and there won't even be an iTunes for XP anymore. You wait its coming.

Yeah, sure. XP is Windows' greatest asset right now. Vista was an embarrassing fail. That's why they came out with 7 so soon. Make sure you know what you're talking about before YOU make the judgment call.

I meant it from a point of view of that most windows users are XP, and of course they are not going to stop itunes for XP that would be stupid.

I see what you're saying here, the previous iTunes and Safari was light years ahead. iTunes I'm getting used to but it does look a bit plastic-ey, they've taken a step back in my opinion. I'm on XP though, and it works faster and smoother now with the upgrade.
