The irony is that i was having trouble getting it to work in Linux. Works now, and its very cool.

yeah i saw it today. my friend was vacuuming, so i had no idea what it was about until the very end. i thought it had something to do with eminem...hey, the kid somewhat resembles him.
What channel did you see it on?
i don't remember. it was sometime this afternoon, i think it may have been during the us open on cbs. it was so weird to see a commercial for linux, haha.
that is a weird ad. very disconcerting.
but, altogether very well put together.
still won't make me "switch".

Yeah, it wouldn't make me switch either.
They portraited Linux as a little kid. Linux has been around for 10 years, its hardly just starting and immature.
I do like how they hyped the freedom thing, its very different from what MS advertises.
Overall, it got the word LINUX on TV, and thats a plus.
with linux growing and ms getting scared, it'll be no time before linux becomes another viable alternative for the casual user. when it becomes so large that drivers, apps, etc. are made for it, and when it becomes easy to configure, maybe people will switch immediately.
i love linux, don't get me wrong.
but that ad doesn't do justice to linux, come on. ibm can do
way better than that. so is ibm going to "sell" a branded distro
of linux.
That is a good question I have read in the Mandrake site that in Europe the stabeshiment wants to stop the open source I am wondering if Big Blue knows something we don't?
HP sells Linux Pc's now too.
So the question still stands if you pay for a PC are you buying the Linux inside?
and if so is the PC brand owner of the version of Linux that is in the Pc?
it would Suck if you have to activate like Xp...
Something is on the move that is for sure... I hpe is something good because I
would like to use Linux I like the sound of it. Linux..Unix has a nice sound ![]()
point.
also, is ibm going to have an alliance with a distro comp?
if so, which one?
is it going to cause a rift in the already fractured linux distro world?
read somewhere that some distros were joining forces against other distro
comps. need more than a 90 sec ad to make up my mind.
also, doesn't ibm support unix in the form of uix or something like that?
and isn't the sco group suing ibm?hmmm...............

yea, but the kid does look like he is about 10 years old too..and just old enough to become a more widely-used OS (then say, oh, Windows).
but i agree that its definitely a plus to get the word linux on TV
edit: the website says if they saw linux as a human, it would be a nine-year old child
