I was wondering if i could connect my old ps2 to my newly bought lcd monitor i got for my ps3. because as of now im using the rca cables that come with the ps2 and the picture is in black and white. So i was thinking of using a ps2 component av cable since the monitor does in fact have component inputs for the cable. I just wanted to make sure this would work before i go out and buy the cable

Yes absolutely you can do that. And you must be having a very good monitor if it's having component inputs. Could you please name the make and model of your monitor. I am interested in buying one too.
And yes, the quality with RCA is really bad if you connect it to a widescreen or high def tv. You can have a multi-console component cable like this one if you have any other console or plan to buy one in future:
But I ordered ps2 component cable from play-asia for my ps2 as I don't have any other console and I found it cheapest over there.
But my monitor doesn't have any component inputs so I will have to use XCM mega cool vga box in order to play my ps2 on my lcd monitor.
But your monitor itself is a wonder, so you don't need that I guess.:-)
