[help] Scroll Bar

Hi all,

I have the Panther theme by Kol, but there's one bug that ruins its beauty:

iebug.png

That's right, the infamous IE's scrollbar bug. It's not only a program issue, it's a theme issue. Why? Because Iceman's msstyle and Jason's Xport don't have this nasty effect. I want to fix it but i have no idea of how to do it. Can someone help me?

it may be a stylebuilder issue....

Sorry ja450n, i didn't remember the right numbers... How you make your themes without stylebuilder? Reshack? Isn't there a way to fix it?

i use reshacker and resbuilder to modify themes. just as good as stylebuilder.

regarding the bug, yeah, i'd like to see a fix for it too, but i think kol already said that there's no way to fix it. you could probably just go hack around the theme and play with some transparencies, or maybe try mixing various themes together, but other than that, i'm not sure.

try asking kol directly. he ought to know his theme best.

what exactly is this bug??

i thought i knew what it was.. but if kol's saying that it can't be fixed, i may have the wrong bug in mind..

i use a combination of ResBuild, Restorator, notepad, corel & photoshop.

hmm... it is REALLY annoying, I don't like this bug since I use OSX themes, because most (almost everyone of them...?) is using rounded drag handles. it destroyes the wonderful look of every theme!

if I get it right, the item, which should be placed on top of the bottom-scroll-button is placed on top of the drag handle and vice-versa with the stuff from the upper side. hmm... maybe it is somehow in relation with the possibility to change the scrollbar look via CSS. I mean, maybe IE has got it's own window render engine and doesnt care about things like rounded scrollbar elements...

anyway, a fix would be wonderful, really...

I wanna see a fix also to this bug. Only thing that keeps me from using KOL'S exellent themes.

Take it easy, it is not Kol's fault but a "characteristic" of IE. IE doesn't use standard scroll bars but a little program that does a kind of "emulation" using the same resources as the theme you're using. In his themes Kol decided to add round corners to the underlying scroll bar image, sacrificing the scroll bar look in IE but giving a more accurate OS X look in the overall theme. At this moment it has no possible fix, at least until MS releases a new IE version or fixes the behavior of the existent one.

I repeat, Kol knows this and it was his decision, I don't see anything wrong with that.

yeah, it's a problem with ie, not kol's fantastic themes. and it shouldn't be a big deal considering the amazing quality of the visual style. thanks, kol! :D

i doubt that the problem will ever be fixed..

Unless MS makes a patch for it..

the problem is that IE and Explorer, use different resources..

you can see how this is, in the attached image..

i set the "UPPER TRACK" to RED and the "LOWER TRACK" to green..

IE flips them, for some reason..
