Microsoft Are Retards

Ok, walk with me... a friend of mine posted this and it made me chuckle quite a bit:

He lost his hotmail password. Thus, he cannot log in Messenger (or live, or whatever it's called this week) nor read his emails. Granted it's not his primary email, otherwise he probably wouldn't forget his password, but that's not the point. He sees this link "I forgot my passowrd" and he thinks "Well isn't that perfect, just what I need!". Clicks on it, goes through the endless questionare and CAPTCHA bull crap, clicks Submit, and........

Believe it or not, this is what Hotmail answered:

"Message sent. An email message has been sent to <his hotmail address>. To reset your password, simply follow the instructions in the email."

WTF? I kid you not!!! For those who blinked, here's the replay: he is trying to retrieve his password because he can't access his emails, and they send him an email to that address so he can reset it!

How can you be so numb?!? No body in Redmond thought this over or what? It's like having a f'ing spare key inside your car!

Really made me laugh, and thank the gods I don't use Hotmail! <_<

Wow, that is a total f*ck up.

What a bunch of Timmys.

Not really that silly when you think about.

Within the options under email, you can add an alternative email address where you can have password reminders sent to.

Well he either didn't provide Microsoft/Hotmail a secondary email address or he forgot to put it in. Don't get me wrong, Microsoft needs to work on this harder, but if he didn't set up the account right and was in a hurry and didn't think tings through its his own fault. I have several Hotmail/MSN email accounts and them setup so that a password request is ent to an alternative email for just this reason.

i have gmail as primary. But use Live ID regularly for IM.. and this is a good reminder for me to add my secondary email as my gmail.. thanks guys

#525294

Yeah I get what you guys are saying about the secondary address; and you're right. Gmail has it too. But, let's assume this was his only email address. I mean some people like having only one (I have two addresses, and I think that's one too many). Or you lose the secondary email address as well (happened to me before when my domain expired). What then?

Bottom line: whatever the reason, if you can't access the recovery email you're screwed; it's not like you can call Hotmail tech support... so maybe they should have come up with a better solution.

And it was just all around funny :D

this also happened to me, so I had to make another hotmail account, this is all sh*t!!!

#525318

Well the main rule is, use a password that you know by heart and can't forget unless you get amnesia.

If you ever run out of ideas for a password try some of these

#525351

Doesn't really make sense to have them send an e-mail, I agree. Just makes me not want to use hotmail even more :P

I use gmail at the moment, and will continue to use it.
