Cleaning up after VistaOSX '09

Ok, I'm sure that you guys already know that this skin is basically PC herpes.

The guy who made it (patrickgs on DeviantART), didn't make a proper uninstaller, so it's nearly impossible to get rid of.

My computer is pretty much fixed, although I'm still missing my Aero theme, and I have a few remaining icons from VistaOSX. I got the rest out with three sfc/scannow repairs, which got rid of most of the garbage from this cancer of a theme/skin.

What can I do to get rid of the last few remnants? The main things are in Windows Explorer - the computer icon in the top location bar, and the desktop icon on the left explorer menu.

Is there any way to actually just restore default icons?

1. Before starting to do this u have tu disable the users account control:

-Go to start clic in ur user's picture then clic in enable/disable users accounts control (UAC) (sorry if thazt's not the name but i got my windows in another language)

2. Reboot ur PC, go to your start up menu (press esc after the fisrt screen), N.B: this menu is in MS DOS

3. press F8 to go to advaced options

4. Normally u'll have to give ur password if u got one, Clic in CMD

5. There u gotta change the names, 'cuz authui controls ur authentification screen, so if u change it in windows explorer ur Pc will never re-start (use rename command )

- for exemple: x:\windows\system32>rename c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll c:\windows\system32\browseui.bak

6. then copy ur dll files from ur boot disc

- f.E: x:\windows\system32>copy authui.dll c:\windows\system32\

The file who changes the original icons is "imageres.dll" (the one that changes the boot and shut screens)
