(help) I've Lost My Start Button
As always, step one: reboot. if you've done that, and it still screws up, then think to yourself "What have I installed lately? What was the last thing I installed?" because it may be that program or whatever that is causing the problem. Also, run a full virus scan and possibly a hard disk scan too.
I know of the existance of programs that bugger up your windows keyboard key shortcuts... make sure the only stuff running at system startup are programs you trust.
start>run> msconfig.exe
to check what's running at startup.
lol its called "System Restore" :own:
Wow, that's one for the books. "Run Away Start Button"
Are you sure you're running Windows? Ever think that you may be running OSX? Yeah, Star Buttons tend to not exist if you're running those.
I had the same problem.
system restore is probably the best thing microsoft ever created.
safe mode is a close second, it fixes pretty much everything so you can go and change things or do system restore if you couldnt acess it before
to get to safe mode, press F5 when the computer is starting and select it in the list
i know of a trojan ( i used it once on someone i dont like much) that makes the start button move when you mouse over. it shoots alll over the desktop and there is no way to stop it without killing the process, and this person has no idea what the the taskmanager even is, much less what its for. rofl.....good times.... ![]()
hmm.. you could try using ctrl+esc to bring up the start menu..
This is why people use Linux ![]()
Try Ctrl+Esc, it opens the Start Menu also, it is worth a try...
EDIT: Sorry, didn't realize tek said the same thing...hehe!

Isn't it F8?
It's too late for this advise, but when the Start button dissapears for me CTRL+ALT+DEL, end explorer.exe and do a New Task, and type in "explorer"
Always works for me... but im glad to hear you got it working now! ![]()
