So myspace and Facebook are getting good votes. But mate you should also add Orkut as this one is quite popular here in Brazil.

I don't get facebook its to just ugh for me mabey its because I've had myspace forever and i just don't wanna restart i feel myspace is also more customizable

Myspace, although I may get Facebook, depends when I remember to and if I can be bothered 
Facebook. Myspace customization is THE thing keeping me out of that website. Facebook is unified so your eyes don't die at every new profile you open

I am using facebook because of its clean style and simple look. Plus there are many interesting applications as well with the Facebook.
So I am casting my vote in favour of facebook only.
Just Facebook 
It's a bit stagnant at the moment, but the relaunch is coming along nicely. It has by far the best css customisation features out of any of the sites.
I am using a german site: studiVZ and schuelerVZ
I used to use myspace until everyone in OZ moved to facebook.
I liked myspace's customisation/html... despite the fact that theres so many horrible HTML pages, mine actually looks good.
Facebook connects people better though... live feeds and friend updates are more in sync- you never feel like your left out of the loop.
I guess thats why its taken off- Its far more 'Social'
myspace is still good for a perv... checkout the uniqueness of everyone's profile and get a feel for what they are like. Facebook is a little dull in that sense.
Ive also used VERV and like the concept... its a shame it hasnt taken off here otherwise Id use it instead of myspace (no more crappy html!)
I'm on FB and Orkut... but to say that I use them would be highly wrong, an occasional visit and msg to friends... that's about it for my social networking presence.

No one admits to being a social site addict.
They just are. They leave their computer on, everytime they get an email from myspace/facebook, they scramble back to the PC in a hurry to see what their friends wrote, then they write something quirky back.
They upload photos and then demand attention... then they comment the friends that comment them...
There are so many sites are there for social networking i mostly use facebook for social Networking.
