software that runs fullscreen apps in window (non fullscreen) instead

some fullscreen applications like games does not have a nonfullscreen function. so is there a software that does this?

I have never found anything, no.

Many engines, like the source engine, or CryEngine, have this functionality, however.

Most of the games don't have a visible setting for this, but starting the game with e.g. /window or -window or something similar will enable window mode
