Aqua-Soft ForumsI was a hardcore OD user up untill .99 that i waited so eagerly but when it came out i found out that it`s just to slow on my PC so i tried Yz. It`s the best thing that happened to me in a long time!. So fast and smooth with separators and great docklets! It brings tears to my eyes when i remember that it was discontinued cause of a company that we all love so much :rant: Is there any way, and i mean ANY way that someone (maybe even Mr. Yamaguchi) continue the development of Yz? I`m keeping my fingers crossed. :shy: :cry:

it's a very good program, and it doesn't need much more development, but yeah, development would be nice.
will there be further development? legally? probably not, unless mr. yamaguchi decides to disregard the notification and continue development, or if he lets someone else take over the program, neither of which i think will happen.
but docklet development is very fruitful.
reverse engineer the dock! If only it was open source like some snes emus and stuff developement could continue no matter what. What is mr. Y doin now?

well techincally reverse engineering is illegal on copyrighted software but if u can get ur hands on a decompiler you got 50/50 shot at getting at the source code
what kind of decompiler ???? have an idea about it ???

Okay, first of all let me say that I am against pulling his dock into a decompiler and trying to reverse-engineer it. Mr. Y did an excellent job and put alot of work into that dock, and if he doesn't want the source released, we should all respect his wishes and not go prying.
Secondly, say someone DOES do that, disrespecting Mr. Y's wishes and decompiles the dock successfully. What then? Who's saying that anyone here can do as good a job as Mr. Y, or will even be able to plunge into his code without delay? This could end up being a very LONG, hard process and the end results may not even be worth it.
I say let's just hope Mr. Y starts work on it again, or Apple lifts their pending lawsuit. Otherwise, well, tough luck, I suppose.
iAgree Cerebral but i keep thinking how much better would YzD be now if Apple hadn`t stopped it`s development. God i`m starting to hate Apple >.< :nuts:
I know i'm gonna be flamed for this, and probably don't know how Mr Y personally feels about his hard work.
But it seems to me, if he loves what he made, which I would assume he does, and cares about the community. He'd just "anonymously" release a source code to some program we all know, under the GPL.
If he throws the source code out to a few sites anonymously, under the GPL, under a different name then YZ's dock. There's nothing apple could really do. It's free, and anyone is allowed to make changes, and it's already passed around the world.
Just my 2 cents.
Mr.Y might not want to release his code. He spent YEARS writing that, and he might feel bad if other people got "credit" for it, without doing any work.
Many people aren't in jive with the whole "open source" thing, especially if they spent a very long time developing a successful program by themselves.
And Decompiler? Never heard of one. 
Even if decompiling is successful, it's usually too hard to understand the code. I have great difficulty in finding out what everything means even in my own old projects.
