Editing Taskbar startbutton in skinstudio 5

my modded taskbar startbutton seems to have it's top and bottom cropped out a bit and it seems the original taskbar(original skin settings) is too slim.. how can i make my taskbar wider ?

and also since i edited the original taskbarstartbutton, it seems to follow the original contours/shape... how can i fix that ? (can be seen in the preview below.. with the dark patch on the left side and on the top right of the start button which is oval shape. What i want is to eliminate those dark black patch.. )

startbutton cropped= make sure your start button image dimensions (e.g. height) does not exceed that of your taskbar background image. usual taskbar height of most skins is 22px. maybe you can try 30px and see...

wider taskbar= to make your taskbar wider, you don't need skin studio. right-click taskbar>unlock>place cursor over the taskbar edge (you'll notice a sizing arrow), drag edge to desired size>lock...

black patches in start button= you did not specify what format is the image, either .tga or .bmp. play around with the "Painting options". if .bmp, do not invoke 'translucency', but make sure the image background is "magic pink" (rgb 255 000 255). if you're confused, the best way is to paste startbutton image over a background similar to your taskbar.

so where do i see the dimension points ? and what i meant by a wider taskbar is that without resizing the taskbar edge.. the default 1 line taskbar...

the format Windowblinds covers is in tga format... doesnt support transparency...

It appears that you DON'T know what you are doing. hmm...

taskbar dimensions= the height and width of the actual taskbar image itself!, the one you created (TaskbarBack.tga) If you created a taskbar that is H=30px, W=200px (2 images, tiled), your startbutton image height should not be over 30 px.
