I have a Laptop with Win XP Professional and want to connect it to my office LAN. Whenever I log in LAN with LAN administrator username and password, the local admin password of the laptop is automatically changed to the same as LAN admin password. How to avoid that? That means how can I keep the local admin password. By the way I can't create other users in that Laptop. Is this an error with Win installation?

Looks like your office is running in an Active Directory domain.
Appears they have set up a group or global policy that modifies the local admin account on any PC that connects to it's network.
The only way to block this is to find out what policies are associated with your LAN ID and see if your network admin will modify them, or log into your laptop with a local account and use your LAN ID to connect to resources in the domain.
Unfortunately you cannot block the inheritance of global or group policies on your laptop when you connect to an AD network.
We do that here to keep the non-experts from screwing up their systems.
Only members of a specific GPO or OU can have full admin priviledges to their local machine and are set to not inherit domain policies.
I'm not sure how clear that was as it would take a lot more detail to fully explain how GPO's and OU's and the such work in AD.
In a nutshell... it's gonna happen everytime you log in with your LAN ID.
The only way to avoid this is to not log in that way... use a local account. Map drives to resources with the LAN ID using connect as.
