Actually, the situation where only one person has an item is rare. Most of the time the creator of the item will share it with trusted individuals who he knows will not distribute it.

I don't see the problem with NFR. What if they take an idea that was not theirs, and give their twist on it, like in that shot. It's obviously not their decision to share it. Most of the people who complain should either make it themselves, or ask the author. Not a very hard concept to grasp.
EDIT: To bjorn, you must be out of your ****ing mind if you think people who make items and keep them as NFR are trying to show them off.
