What Tool To Use For "cutting Out" Icons?

If i wanted to make an icon out of my avatar which program should i use to cut it out (just cut out the dog). When i use IconWorkshop images get jagged edges. I want to learn this so i can start doing some icons and stop bothering pple to do it for me.

Your avatar is an iPod, where's the dog? :blink:

Anyhow, I use Photoshop's Extract function to extract a certain part of an image from its background. I then clean up the edges manually using the Eraser tool.

How did you do that?

When i cut the image in IconWorkshop its edges look jagged but urs has smoots edges!

Just use the background eraser tool !! then save the image like PNG, and finally open this PNG with iconworkshop
