PS3 40GB might play PS2 Games...

There has been a big rumor going on about the PS3 40GB finally getting backwards compatibility for PS2 Games. In a German website they claim to have interviewed a Sony importer and said that a firmware update will be released in October to enable backwards compatibility for the PS3 40GB. The person also mentioned that PS2 games would be available on the Playstation Network within October as well. The PS3 40GB will play PS2 Games in full software emulation.

If this turns out to be true, this is great news for PS3 40GB owners (which includes me of course ).

I bought the 40 GB in being too cheap for the other versions and having a working PS2, but this should hopefully help me free up some space.

Full software emulation --> Expect some laggish speeds... Not terrible... but laggish.

Indeed... But what about Gran Turismo? I'm sorry, I just love 3 and 4 too much and I can't wait till I get my hands on 5. And FFXII?! GTA are only a few games that just can't stop being played, you know...

God of War 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, Red Faction (first one only), GTA Series like you said, Metal Gear Solid, older Tony Hawk games, are just a few of the older games that still hold up to be just as good today
