FF3 is getting released in a few days, but as davidsword says there is no reason waiting if you haven't used FF before.
I have used Firefox before, but I'm just trying to make sure everything works. Plugins, extensions...etc. Will they all work?

Firefox 3 has been uberlame so far on the Mac side... Windows wise; I haven't noticed any problems except the Foxmarks plugin, which has been recently fixed.

I'm with you on this one, it's very stable and pretty fast, compared to FF2, even using the portable version of FF3.
Don't about the Mac, haven't got round to installing it yet, but I can see it happening soon.
I've been running the betas since 4.
Awesome bar alone is worth it, but it's also much faster, lighter, and more stable.
(Windows version, anyway)

Firefox is stable enough as it is (at least for me) and plus, it looks great both skinned and unskinned. So, it really doesn't matter to me that 3 is more stable.
I like it's looks, but the functionality is awesome.
its great I love it. Very few of the add ons work tho Stylish and Fission work but compact menu and skins are not available yet

FF3 is a huge step forward than 2, I can't wait till it comes out.

So download a theme. Arronax has made Mac-only Firefox themes that imitate Safari for years now.

I've just installed FF3, and I'll just you all a quick word of warning. If your going install FF3 over the top of FF2 and you have the compact menu extension, uninstall this first or you'll lose access to the menus.
I'm trying to adjust the xpi to make it work for me, but the Mozilla site is running like crap.
