[help] Quickcam Express Problem

hello guys, ive just reinstalled winxp pro and im trying to install my Logitech Quickcam express camera.

Ive tried 3 different drivers so far (latest included!) and none of them seems to be working, actually it goes through thte install new hardware process, it starts installing and in the middle of the instalation process suddenly stops and says camera could not be installed ... reason Invalid data file.

Has anyone got this problem or knows what could be causing it? IM GOING CRAZY!!!!

THe worst part is that with the 6 version of the driver (there are 7) the cam pwas working on the same computer before i reinstalled winxp!!! any clues?

any other problems with hardware? SOunds like could be a corrupt driver file, but that would be very odd.

Try this for now, leave the camera plugged in, go to sys properties, device manager, find the entry for the camera, could be under imagin devices, usb devices or unknown devices. Try first updating the driver there, if that doesnt work, uninstall the driver in device manager, leave the camera plugged in, and reboot. See if that does anything for ya

try deleting the old webcam folders and temp files, then either:

1) install the drivers before plugging in the device. some devices won't function properly if windows detects them before drivers are installed.

2) if it's possible with this device, plug the webcam in and let windows detect it. it might have basic drivers.

Yeah, ive done that a couple of times!...

It is very weird, im not sure if its the drivers ive even tried trough my usb2 card and my mobo's usb1 connections (4of them!!).

While the cam is pluged in, if i go to device manager, i get the camera under imagin as you said and it has a yellow !, so i go into properties and it it says that the driver is not even installed! itry to reinstall but stops in the same part with every driver because fo invalid data file!

Im at the vergo of going to get a new webcam im getting sick of it!

i actually had the same problem with my creative webcam. the driver installation would abort in the middle with some similar error. it didn't matter, though, because i ended up frying my webcam by using improperly configured usb ports.

maybe contact the company and ask their tech support team about it, or a new webcam, as they're pretty cheap, around $15-20. good luck with that!

hehhe yeah, i just came to that soluton too, it would have been nice to fix it tough.. but ive realized that ive tried enough times.,.. thats it!!!!!

hehe, oh well. maybe someone wants your old webcam, so you can go and sell it on ebay, and pick up a new one for yourself.

I might be going for the logitech pro 4000 i hear its pretty sweet, im just afraid the problem is with logitech cams and my system...
