Mac Screensavers for Windows?

Hey, mac has their screensavers used on quartz and alias files, while windows savers in in scr files. Does anyone know how to convert quartz files to scr files? And if anyone has them already in windows format please tell me and more specifically if they have the time machine screensaver for windows. Please I realy want this screensaver but it can only be used for macs so yeah post some replys. If you know how to convert quartz to scr file heres the Timemachine screensaver attached then post to tell me if you converted it.

its not simply a matter of "converting"... the screen savers have to be totally recreated/recoded ffrom scratch.

There are a few ports out there- especially of flurry (the colourful wavy/spinny/fire thing)... GOOGLE OSX-e

Rename Flurry.scr to Flurry.sCr - this will help with most systems showing a lag in playback

I've heard lots of weird things about Windows in my time, but the renaming of screensaver files from *.scr to *sCr to make them function more smoothly is definitely in the top 5 list...!

I actually tried it out Raats, and yep, now both the Windows Aurora scr & the Flurry scr work much nicer...

Thanks a bunch for offering such a byzantine advice, but would you mind giving a little explanation of why this works? I'd love to know...!

To Raats:

Tried it renamed Flurry.scr to Flurry.sCr, it didnt even open up, all it did was the taskbar showed a screensaver button nothing else. Any suggestions?

@ PoulNyryp - As far as I can know its to do with your systems ability to process OpenGL requirements. By renaming the file, it convinces the slower system to work thru what it would normally see as OpenGL limitations..

@ mvosx1094 - Not sure what happened. As a Mac user I'm not really a win specialist but I have used that under WinXP SP2 and it worked perfectly. I do know there were a few versions of the Flurry SCR so make sure you are using the MaDdoG version. Try reinstall the original file to your system32 folder and rename...

LOL.. I'm flattered that you think I might be able to do that for you mate!

Levi is correct in his reply to your first post that is not just a matter of simply converting the file. Because of the way the Mac has compiled the quicktime style file you have in that folder (and by the way I have that screen saver running on my MacPro), it would require a complete rebuild of the file for Win..

Remaking a clone of it in flash would (I guess) be the easiest way to solve the problem...

Easiest... yes. Logical... NO.

It will be a pig on CPU at fullscreen, not to mention, raster images looking rather bad when scaled in flash. Both of these problem amplifying at each resolution increase.

I can voucher for this: I'm running a Dell Latitude D630, 1.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM, and before renaming the files both the Aurora & Flurry screensavers were hacking and sputtering... After renaming the files from *.scr to *.sCr they worked like a charm...
