ipod nano software problem

Hey!

I have a problem with my ipod nano (1st gen)!!

I tried to install rockbox on it, but i seemed to do something wrong before and it did'n work, so I uninstalled rockbox and than formated it! Now, whenever it starts, it tries to boot rockbox instead of itunes and than shows an error!

Is there any possibility to "clean it" and then reinstall itunes?

thanx!!

Although you haven't posted it on the right forum, or even the right site, i might be able to help you (even though i have no knowledge of rockbox, but much knowledge on alternative OS's for iPods)

So, from what i understand, you tried to install rockbox, but it did something wrong and you uninstalled it and formatted it (your iPod? How did you format it? Through iTunes?) And now, when you try to boot up your iPod, it tries to boot Rockbox instead of the Default iPod OS.

I just wanted to clarify, because iPod modding can be tricky business.

Have you tried booting into Disk Mode?

In order to boot into Disk Mode, restart your iPod, initiate the switch button for 3 seconds, and then, while your iPod is booting, hold the Menu and Center button at the same time. Make sure your iPod is connected to your computer whilst you're doing this.

I formatted it using right click->format.. Is there a possibility to format it through itunes? Yes, I can boot it in disc mode. I seem to be able to even update my songs on ipod using itunes. However, when disconnected it still tries to boot from rockbox!!

O_o that was a dumb thing to do (format it that way). Have you ran a repair install via iTunes?

If not, Connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, and click the restore button. If that doesn't work, Download iPodWizard 1.3 and write a default iPod Nano firmware to your iPod. Do you use a boot loader to boot your iPod?

Just curious, did the method i suggested work?

Yes, but the problem was that i had the old version of itunes (6) wiyhout any restore buttons.. I downloaded 7th and now it is ok!
